Gillingham Baptist Church has been in the neighbourhood since before 1859 when the first chapel was built on our present site. The chapel we now use was erected in 1892. We would like to introduce ourselves by explaining something of what we believe:-

We are people who live in Gillingham and the surrounding villages who believe the Bible and have found the Lord Jesus Christ to be a wonderful Saviour and Friend who gives us peace and strength for daily living and hope for the life to come.

The Bible is our infallible guide. We believe the whole Bible to be the inspired Word of God so that our task is to understand it, preach it to all and live it out in our daily lives among our own generation.

We believe that we are all sinners in the sight of God our Maker and only through personal faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ can we be accepted by God and forgiven:

'For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life'
John chapter 3 verse 16

Jesus said 'I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me'
John chapter 14 verse 6

This church is a company of people who want to unite together as a fellowship to worship and serve our Saviour. We share a common experience of new life in the Lord Jesus Christ and we want to encourage one another to live in a way that pleases Him. When we meet together in our times of worship we sing hymns and songs of praise, pray and listen to the reading and preaching of God's Word.
